As DJing continues to evolve, so has Pioneer as they unveil the CDJ-900NXS digital player.
This latest player builds upon the success of its predecessor, the CDJ-900, and delivers much of the benefits of its bigger brother, the CDJ-2000NXS (Nexus), to a more affordable price point.
Packed with new technology including a full colour LCD screen (improvement on the screen featured in the CDJ-2000 and 2000NXS), Beat Divide, four-deck Beat Sync, plus the ability to play sets from a smart phone, it certainly has what it takes to compete with even the most high end of digital players. The player is also packed with many of the features found in more expensive models, such as USB and Wi-Fi connectivity, and Pioneers Pro DJ Link, enabling DJs to share one source with up to four decks via LAN cable.
One feature that vanished from the 900NXS is the old Auto Beat Loop function, which has been replaced with Beat Divide and Slip Loop. These two new functions that make it easier to drastically alter the rhythm and add micro edits, knowing the breakdowns and drops will come when expected. DJs can use the familiar beat buttons to divide each beat by the timing selected, and roll the first chunk around in a loop to give a staccato effect that changes with each beat and bar of the track. Engaging Slip Mode transforms the same controls to command a Slip Loop effect, for even more creative expression. This is all in addition to loop functions inherited from the CDJ-2000NXS.
Other features inherited from the CDJ-2000NXS include a four-deck Beat Sync, to automatically sync the BPM of tracks to the master deck, and a dedicated Quantize button for instant access to Quantized loops, cues and effects. Add to that Active Loop, My Settings, plus the harmonic Key Analysis Indicator, and the CDJ-900NXS is a force of nature any ones DJ setup.
The Pioneer CDJ-900NXS will be available from December 2013 for £1,149 (GBP) / €1,399 (EUR), so update that Christmas gift list now :)
